Handing off a site

The person says: “Hand the venue site over to the client’s own workspace.”

A transfer moves the site, its content and its record into another workspace; this workspace loses it. It needs the Owner role and the person’s yes.

  1. Empress:whoami — the person’s role: only an Owner can transfer.
  2. Empress:site_status — nothing should be staged or open in a change set; promote it or have it discarded first.
  3. Empress:site_preview — target: "live": the state the client receives, at three widths.
  4. Empress:site_call — tool: "empress.site_transfer", args: { workspace } (the other workspace’s handle); confirm: true once the person agreed. If the answer says transfer is not available yet, tell the person plainly and stop: the hand-off is then done with Empress support.
  5. Empress:whoami — after a transfer: the site is no longer listed here.
  • Say what moves and what stays. Content, theme, media and history move; this workspace’s members, its connector and its billing do not.
  • The receiving workspace must exist. The client creates it themselves, in the console.
  • Lock first if the hand-off takes days (see locking-a-site), so nothing changes in between.
